The current long term course started on 1st May 2014 under the guidance and blessings of Pujya Swamiji with Swami Sadatmananda as the main acarya, supported by Swami Shankarananda and Swamini Agamananda.

Around 70 students who were selected after a rigorous selection process attended the initial 3 months course. The syllabus included Bhagavad Gita Overview, TatvaBodha, Sadhana Pancakam, Dhanyashtakam, important suktas along with study of Sanskrit. Pujya Swamiji gave an overview of the entire Bhagavad Gita in the first 3-months, bringing out the overall message conveyed by the Shastra.

The main 3 years course started from 15th Aug 2014 and is currently being attended by around 40 students.

Pujya Swamiji conducted one Vedanta class every day when he was in the Gurukulam. Initially, Swamiji taught selected mantras and verses from the Upanishads and the Bhagavad Gita. Later, Swamiji invited topics from the students and took the students on a journey of discovering oneself and living life with the view of the vision through insightful talks on various topics.

SwSadatmananda_class2Swami Sadatmananda teaches Upanishads and Bhagavad Gita with Shankara Bhashyam.

AVG (4)Swami Shankarananda teaches Level-3 Sanskrit. He also teaches Vedanta prakarana granthas, conducts guided meditation and satsangs.

Swamini Aganamanda taught Level-2 Sanskrit. She is away presently.

Swamini Vedarthananda and Swamini Saradananda teach Vedic Chanting.

Brahmacarini Medha Michika teaches Level-1 Sanskrit.

The course’s primary objective is to impart the vision of Vedanta and enable the participants to continue to lead a life in keeping with the vision.

The long-term syllabus includes study of

  • Bhagavad Gita
  • Upanishads
  • Vedanta prakaranas like Tattvabodha, Atmabodha, Panchadashi etc
  • Brahmasutras
  • Sanskrit with Paninian system of Grammar
  • Vedic chanting – Rudram, Suktas and various mantras

Weekday Course Schedule:

  • 7:15 am   – Meditation
  • 8:45 am   – Upanishad*¹ Class with Shankara Bhashyam
  • 10:45 am – Sanskrit
  • 12:00 pm – Chanting
  • 4:15 pm   – Bhagavad Gita with Shankara Bhashyam
  • 8:00 pm   – Satsang

Weekend Schedule (Saturday and Sunday) :

  • 7:15 am   – Meditation
  • 8:45 am   – Upanishad*¹ Class with Shankara Bhashyam
  • 10:00 am – Prakarana grantha*²
  • 11:40 pm – Sanskrit
  • 4:15 pm   – Bhagavad Gita with Shankara Bhashyam
  • 8:00 pm   – Satsang

*¹Current upanishad: Mandukya.

*²Current text : Upadesha Sahasri 17th chapter.

Wednesday is a holiday with only one Upanishad class at 8:45 am.

The course is scheduled to complete on 28th Sep 2017.

The following have been taught so far:

  • Upanishads: Katha, Mundaka, Kena, Taittiriya and Chandogya 6th chapter with Shankara Bhashyam
  • Bhagavad Gita: Chapters 1 – 13 with Shankara Bhashyam
  • Prakarana granthas: Tatva Bodha, Vivekachudamani, Sadhana Pancakam, Dhanyashtakam, Manisha Pancakam, Prathassmaranam, Mayapancakam, Upadesha Saram, Drkdrshya Viveka, Hastamalakiyam, Panchadashi chapters 1, 4 and 10, and Dakshinamurti stotram.
