Shankara Jayanti Celebrations

Sankara Jayanthi was celebrated at AVG, Anaikatti on May 11, 2016. In 2012, Sringeri Mutt presented  the “Adi Sankaracharya Award” to Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswati in recognition of his outstanding teaching of Sankara bhasyam. Pujya Swamiji said on an earlier Sankara Jayanthi that we learn and understand Sri Adi Sankara in his own words here at the Gurukulam.

The murti of Sri Adi Sankara at the lecture hall was the altar of worship. Led by the temple priest, the acharyas and students chanted “Sankaracharya Astotra Sata Namavali”, the 108 names glorifying Sri Adi Sankara.

Swami Sadatmananda explained the significance of Sri Adi Sankara in the teaching tradition of advaita. Led by the Acharyaji, the students read Shankara bhasyam on the Bhagavad Gita, one mantra of Upanishad and a part of Brahma Sutra bhasyam.

Acharyas and students offered flowers and namaskaram to the altar.  The celebrations concluded with maha prasadam.
